In their latest bodies of work, Julie Nicholson and Talya Brookman continue to navigate the pictorial intersection between representation and abstraction. Both artists use colour as a visual dialogue, stimulating the senses and testing the limits of paint's materiality. Once pigments interplay, they gain autonomy through abstraction, where they no longer are perceived as a subordinate of the subject matter, but a language of itself.
