This piece contains a loose piece inside the top component that rattles. It moves and rolls around and makes a noise when you move it, kind of requiring you to poke your finger into the hole to hold the rattle steady. The lower cracks are a result of multiple high temperature firings, repeatedly exposing the form to stress that eventually causes cracks.
