Orson Heidrich

My practice transforms photographic or data-visualised imagery into sculptural works by appropriating large-scale industrial systems and co-opting them for an artistic output.

Through processes such as computer modelling, CNC machine-cutting, die-pressing and sand-casting techniques, I produce hybrid objects that blur the boundaries between image, object and tool.

I see my practice as a tool of observing and analysing the built systems that underpin daily life. By deconstructing these systems, infrastructures, and mechanisms that enable modern society and reducing them to their most essential forms, I aim to expose the intricacy and latent complexity embedded within these invisible frameworks that shape our material and

social environments.

Heidrich has exhibited extensively throughout sydney and australia with public and private collections in Australia and overseas. Previous exhibitions in Sydney include a major solo at STATION Gallery Sydney, 2022 as result of his selection for the Art Incubator program, selecting 2 emerging artists from australia, and Yavuz Gallery sydney, 2021, which canvased 4 emerging artists from australia. Heidrich also exhibited in his first institutional exhibition at Sydney University’s Tin Sheds, in late 2024, as well as exhibiting at Cassandra Bird in 2024.
